The day care program currently serves toddlers ages 18-36 months and preschoolers ages 3-5 years of age. Day care options are available for toddlers as well as integrated preschool special education classes. Our integrated classrooms follow a 15:1:2 ratio and use the Creative Curriculum.
The program’s toddler groups utilize a developmental learning model where language and play are seen as the foundations to growth and development. Children are assigned to age appropriate groups that incorporate developmental practices designed to foster growth in the five developmental domains of cognition, communication, fine motor, gross motor, and self-help.
Group environments are very child friendly with colorful child-sized furniture and developmentally appropriate toys and other materials throughout each room. Each room aims to be designed with sectioned off areas to increase focus. Children engage in a multitude of activities throughout the day including music and movement, art and crafts, story time, dramatic play, as well as small group activities designed to stimulate cognitive development. Children also have regularly scheduled time in the gym and on our outdoor playground (weather permitting) so they can work on gross motor development.
All staff meets state mandated requirements for experience, education, and training. The program is licensed by New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
The program provides light snacks (Cheerios, low-fat milk, cookies, pretzels, juice, etc.) throughout the day to supplement the snacks and lunch sent in by parents. Please note that for the health and safety of the children, the program is a NUT- FREE environment.
Operating hours for the program are from 8:00 – 6:00, Monday – Friday. The program is closed on major holidays, the last week of the calendar year and the last week of August.
