Brian Levine Joins BCCS to Build Community Partnerships
Brian Levine joined the Children’s Education Center this summer as a Transition Administrative Specialist, building relationships with local organizations so students can explore new experiences through on-the job learning.
For the past decade, Brian has dedicated his career to supporting young men and women starting the path to adulthood with Transition Services.
At BCCS, Brian recently secured contracts with the St. Boniface Martyr’s food pantry in Sea Cliff, Walgreens, and Mario’s Pizza. Soon, students will begin volunteering, stocking shelves, and building pizza boxes.
“There is so much potential in these students and this school,” said Brian, who shared his goal is to add three to four work sites to the schedule, every quarter.
“Retail, food service, and maintenance are all welcome. We’re looking for basic entry-level tasks to get students learning basic skills,” said Brian.
He plans to welcome a variety of businesses but knows the importance of traditional workplaces because “if students do end up working and volunteering, it will likely be in retail and customer service.” He says developing these skills early—cash handling, register skills, socializing—with staff and teachers by their side, will set students up for success in the future.
Before heading out to community worksites, students develop their skills in the classroom and learn more about their interests and capabilities in the Practical Assessment Exploration Systems (PAES) Lab. Last year, the graduating class of 2025 was the first to use the PAES lab to help educators connect students’ goals with meaningful career pathways.
“The Ed Center’s Transition Services program is growing to better meet the needs of all students,” said Debra Doyle, Senior Director. “Brian is actively engaging with businesses willing to support student growth, providing them with the tools to succeed in and beyond the classroom.”
