National Nurses Week Celebrates Exceptional Team
Proud to recognize BCCS’ incredible nursing team, this National Nurses Week, May 6–12! Every day, BCCS nurses make a profound difference in the daily lives of children and young adults. From providing children comfort when they’re not feeling well to ensuring that everyone has what they need to lead healthy lives, nurses are essential to providing quality education, therapy, recreational, and residential services.
According to the American Nurses Enterprise, National Nurses Week is a time to recognize the invaluable contributions of nurses worldwide and the real-life challenges they face daily.
“Nurses bridge the gap in health equity for people supported that don’t always have access to services. Through their advocacy, they ensure that people get the best care at the most vulnerable of times,” said Chris O’Connor, RN, Chief Operating Officer.

Meet Kristine Jones, RN
When asked what inspired Kristine Jones to become a nurse, she said it was simply because she liked helping people.
Now serving as Nurse Manager at the Children’s Residential Program (CRP) Kristine supports the health and well-being of the children and teens who live there, partnering with staff to support their growth and overall health.
Kristine started her new role in February after transferring from AHRC Nassau, where she began as a nurse in January 2023.
“I like working at the CRP. Everyone works well together and helps each other out. It’s a good team approach,” said Kristine. “While I haven’t been here for too long, I look forward to getting to know the children better and seeing them grow and build new skills.”
Whether working with the adults receiving support from AHRC Nassau or the children at the CRP, Kristine always appreciates the respect she receives.
“The kids appreciate caring and consistency,” Kristine said. “They don’t judge you. I am happy to be part of a team that gets to be a part of their lives supporting their health and growth.”
