Trishta Ramphul, Marcus Ave. Teaching Assistant, Receives The Blanche Fierstein Award
Congratulations to Trishta Ramphul, a Level 3 Teaching Assistant at Brookville Center for Children’s Services Marcus Avenue Preschool, for receiving the Blanche Fierstein Scholarship Award at the 2025 Nassau County AHRC Foundation Rose Ball on June 12 at Oheka Castle.
The Blanche Fierstein Scholarship was established in 2011 to honor the life and legacy of the late AHRC Nassau Board member and NYSARC, Inc. President Blanche Fierstein by awarding $5,000 annually to a person pursuing an advanced degree in special education.
This award will help support Trishta’s Master’s degree in Dual Birth-2nd Special/ General Education at Bank Street College of Education.
“Trishta is an exceptional team member, whose thoughtfulness and warmth help students learn and grow every day,” said Paula DeVita, BCCS Marcus Avenue Preschool Director. “Congratulations to Trista on this wonderful accomplishment. We look forward to all the good things ahead in her career.”
Trishta began working at Marcus Avenue Preschool four years ago as an aide. Since then, Trishta has embraced opportunities to grow—developing skills that support her students and her own professional journey. She enjoys working directly with students and values the strong relationships she’s built with fellow staff members.
“In the classroom, I enjoy being interactive, because that gets the students’ attention,” Trishta said. “Being able to get on their level, play with them, and be animated to get their attention, that’s what makes it worth it.”
