Excitement filled the air on Sept. 25 as Marcus Avenue Preschool parents gathered for Back-to-School Night, a special evening of connection, community, and celebration.
The evening was organized by the school’s Parents’ Association (PA) together with BCCS staff members Margarite Tagliaferro, School Psychologist; Danielle Wood, Movement/Dance Therapist; Lisa Kaplan, Social Worker; and Lori Aquilino, Assistant Director. The event included a bake sale, raffle prizes, and opportunities for parents to meet teachers and clinical staff.
Paula DeVita, Director, welcomed nearly 100 parents and introduced leaders in speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and behavior and social sciences. Parents also received timely announcements about the upcoming school year.
“It was a successful evening where parents had the opportunity to hear about the exciting plans, goals, and learning experiences ahead for their children’s school year,” said Margarite.
A highlight of Back-to-School Night was information on the school’s upcoming move to a new campus on Round Hill Road, in Roslyn Heights. “Renovations have begun and are ongoing,” shared Paula, assuring parents they will be updated every step of the way through direct communications and notifications on Class Dojo.
Margarite emphasized that the new campus will offer new the opportunities for students’ creative growth and that “parents are excited and optimistic about the move. We are looking forward to having more outdoor space.”

The funds raised from the bake sale and raffles will support activities that benefit the students and teachers, such as the summer Bubble Show and fun learning experiences for students to enjoy throughout the year.
As students and families are only with Marcus Avenue for two years, these events offer moments of connection. New parents can get their questions answered, while returning families can continue to build connections while sharing insight and encouragement. These bonds develop throughout the school year as the preschool community comes together for more events and milestones.
