Brookville Students Splash Into Summer Fun
July marked the beginning of another fantastic summer session for the students in our school programs. School days at BCCS are always fun, but summer days are extra special because each school has a unique way of infusing more excitement into children’s days. With summer-centric activities and alternate play days, teachers and staff always ensure students have the best summer ever.
Students started the summer session off with a bang in July. Students learned about Independence Day and highlighted the occasion with arts and crafts and fun games.
Red, White, and Blue Week kicked off Post Avenue Preschool’s themed summer weeks tradition, where each week students dive deep into a topic. They learned numbers and drew fireworks in week one. This spilled over into them writing out their names on rockets in week two—Space Week.
Marcus Avenue teachers are getting creative on Fun Fridays, where each teacher curates an exciting activity to enjoy specifically on Fridays. Children also enjoyed ocean-themed sensory play, where they played with toy sharks in a water bin and went fishing – right at their desks.
In Movement class, students are still having a blast with Danielle Wood, our Movement/Dance Therapist, and enjoying an extra dose of bubbles during movement class—just because it’s summer.
At Barbara C. Wilson, staff led students through a Water/Under the Sea Study and Beach/Ball Study. Children had the opportunity to learn about where water comes from, where we can find water, what we can do with water, what we can do at the beach and what kind of balls are there.
Children’s Education Center preschool students released butterflies they’d been caring for into the wild. For weeks, the students learned about the butterfly life cycle and watched their caterpillars transform. They organized a sweet ceremony for release day. Wearing butterfly headbands, they sang a butterfly song before watching the butterflies fly away.
At BCCS, we are grateful for the opportunity to brighten the days of both students and staff during these exciting and fun summer months!
